Reading a cool book called "The Bone Witch" by Rin Chupeco. Really good so far. Protag is a young woman of color. Takes place in a multi-cultural world (with influences from a wide range of Earth cultures) with magic. And I think the protag's cultural influence is Arabia, but I could be wrong. Reading "Fledgling" by Octavia Butler. It's amazing so far! Puts a whole new spin on vampires. The vampires of this novel are alive, not undead. So... I got this book ("Natural Satanic Witchcraft" by Kindra Ravenmoon) because it has malevolent uses for gemstones, which is information I can't find anywhere else, even though it was $22. OMG this is the best new series I've read in decades! The characters are amazing, interesting, and fun. There's drama and humor and touching moments. I cried several times reading this, and I don't cry easily. The non-human characters are realistically alien but also easy to relate to, even the AI.
